Academic Information Technology

The IT Services department Academic Information Technology manages technology in classrooms and computer labs, as well as provides printing, equipment rental, and scoring services for the MSU community. Other services supported include course management systems, web conferencing, and video media sharing and storage. Academic Technology also supports faculty through instructional design consultations, workshops, and best practices.

Innovation Platforms

Innovation Platforms focuses on the design and build of new platforms.


Our mobile development team is fluent in native application development for major mobile platforms like Android and iOS. This team is helping to build the core of MSU’s primary mobile application, and assists other departments in publishing niche apps to the major app storefronts for distribution.


Our center-of-excellence for business process innovation, software development, and user experience design within Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems stands ready to assist departments with moving application functionality to the cloud. This team can assist with design of solutions to leverage Salesforce and other CRMs, and integrate these solution with other websites, applications, and data flows.

Web Development

This team handles everything web design and development, including lightweight web applications and learning tools. They also assist departments with outsourcing web development work through our preferred vendors to meet the enormous demand for websites on our knowledge-rich campus.

Teaching & Learning Technology

Teaching and Learning Technology supports faculty, instructors, academic staff, and departments in academic technology.

Learning Design

The Learning Design team helps faculty create engaging online and hybrid courses through consultation and creative services. Instructional design strategies and technology tools are applied throughout the development, launch, and enhancement of online and blended courses, certificate programs, and degree programs. The team experiments with new systems and software to determine what new technologies may be best adapted for use in courses.

Digital Content

The Digital Content team leads web accessibility initiatives and implementation at MSU with support from department and college Web Accessibility Policy Liaisons, the Office of the General Counsel, and the Office of Institutional Equity. The team helps facilitate various accessibility meetings and events for groups like the MSU Web Accessibility Working Group, Accessibility Policy Liaisons, and Accessibility Review Committee.

Additionally, the Digital Content & Accessibility team provides resources and tutorials for accessible web development, course and content development, and reviews and evaluations of  technology products and software for the MSU community.

A/V & IT Integration

The A/V and IT Integration team installs and maintains audiovisual (A/V) and computing equipment for classrooms and computer labs, supports media requirements for events in various campus venues, consults with departments on equipment purchases, and provides room design and audiovisual system engineering.

Scoring Office

The MSU Scoring Office provides secure bubble sheet scanning for objective tests, general data collection, the Student Instructional Rating System (SIRS), and other MSU instructional evaluations. Item analysis, test statistics, and grade keeping services are available to enhance testing. The team also provides various services to support scanning including customized analyses, statistical consulting support, and tailored reports and bubble sheet design.

Scholarly Services

Scholarly Services team is responsible for maintaining and implementing centrally-supported applications used in class instruction and online education.

Application Support

Some of the applications supported include D2L, Kaltura MediaSpace, and Zoom.

Solution Administration

Solution Administration supports installation, maintenance, and management of software and central printing services in public computer labs, the library, and technology classrooms.
