Teams under Administration and Planning support the business operations of IT Services including communications, facilities, human, resources, training, the MSU Technology Store, financials, and vendor management.
The Human Resources team is the primary point of contact for all HR questions and issues related to IT. The team works with managers and directors to manage all aspects of the employee life cycle, including hiring, compensation, development, employee relations, succession, and retirement.
The Facilities team manages more than a dozen IT locations on campus, supporting design, utilization, and allocation of space for IT departments and employees.
The Communications and Marketing team is responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of communications in support of IT Services. Communications and Marketing also plans campaigns, oversees branding, coordinates events, and manages digital and web communication efforts for MSU IT.
The Training team offers non-credit instructional seminars, courses, and workshops for MSU students, faculty, and staff. In coordination with IT subject matter experts, the team also develops and supports training for applications designed and maintained by IT Services. Courses for the MSU community feature hands-on learning in topics ranging from computer basics to web development. See the SpartansLearn site for more.
MSU Technology Store
The MSU Technology Store is university-owned and operated and offers technology consultation, sales, and assistance to MSU students, employees, and departments. We are the go-to source for on-campus hardware and software needs, and our products reach far beyond computers, including accessories, audio and gaming equipment, augmented and virtual reality devices, and Spartan products. Our focus is helping you obtain practical technology that matters to you and making it easy to do. Call, email, or stop on in with your questions and we will always deliver for you and your department.
The Financials team is responsible for managing and maintaining the departments’ university account ledgers and budgets, following the MSU Manual of Business Procedures, and adhering to generally accepted accounting practices. Additional duties include the management of the MAU and departments’ procurement cards, purchase orders, vendor contracts, and strategic budget analysis.
Purchasing & Vendor Management
The Vendor Management team is charged with evaluating third-party providers of goods and services, supervising day-to-day interactions and managing longer-term relationships.
