New Student Information System

WHAT IS IT?

The Student Information System (SIS) Modernization Project is an effort by MSU to update and implement a more robust SIS to replace the current mainframe platform.

The new SIS will be the official source for all academic information about students and the administrative data supporting MSU teaching and learning. The SIS Project team is working with MSU’s implementation partner, Sierra-Cedar, Inc. (SCI), to install the new system for the incoming class of fall 2021 and existing students.

Oracle’s PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2 is the principal software element MSU will use for the new SIS. MSU will also be implementing Oracle’s Student Financial Planning (SFP) software as another component of the new SIS. SFP is a cloud-based platform that will allow MSU to better manage student financial aid and allow student access to real-time financial information.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

A new SIS will personalize student engagement, enhance opportunities for student success, and provide important analytics and metrics as well as enable more efficient unit workflows and create a more unified user experience.
