MSU Information Technology offers network consulting, engineering, and installation services for MSU departments and units on and off campus. Network services include wired and wireless network design, installation, firewalls, virtual networking, and network security.
Departments may request changes and additions to networking service by using our service request option in our service catalog. Service requests include wall jacks, switches, firewalls and VLANs directly from MSU IT. Repair services to existing networks are also available.
Additionally, MSU IT offers service level agreements (SLAs) to departments and customers.
Wired Network
MSU IT is responsible for the design and implementation of MSU’s backbone network architecture and design and project management of core networking and other major network projects for the MSU campus and its various remote locations.
MSU IT can also review current campus network options and discuss of possible solutions to meet customers’ varying needs. This includes preliminary project scope determination, requirement gathering, and VLAN provisions for requests with minimal complexity.

Wireless
MSUnet Wireless is managed by MSU IT. Departments and units may request wireless consultation and installation.
MSUnet Wireless supports all of the current Wi-Fi standards – 802.11a, 802.11ac,802.11g, and 802.11n; 802.11n operates in both the 2.4 and 5 GHz frequencies.
Network Security
MSU IT can assess your current network environment, determine local network requirements, and design security controls to meet those requirements. More details are available on the Network Security page.
