GOOGLE APPLICATIONS (APPS): SERVICE OFFERING AND SUPPORT

MSU IT offers the MSU community Google for Education for research, teaching, and collaborative projects. The enabled apps in the MSU Education Edition include Google Drive, Google Sites, Google Classroom, and Google Calendar.

Service Offering – Current MSU Students 

Google Apps are provided to students while they attend the university. Once students leave the university, whether graduating with a degree or not graduating, they will lose access to Google Apps software.

Before students leave the university, they should migrate any needed data to other sources. Data not migrated will be deleted 60 days following separation from the university.

Service Offering – MSU Faculty & Academic Staff 

Google Apps are provided to current faculty and academic staff while employed by the university. Once an individual leaves the university, they will lose access to Google Apps software. Any individual who officially retires* or has emeritus status* from the university is allowed to retain access to their Google Apps account.

Before individuals leave the university, they should migrate any needed data to other sources. Data not migrated will be deleted 60 days following separation from the university.

Service Offering – MSU Support Staff 

Google Apps are provided to current support staff while employed by the university. Once MSU support staff leave the university or officially retire*, they will lose access to Google Apps software.

Service Offering – Temps and On Calls 

Google Apps are automatically provided to current Temps and On-Call staff.  Once a Temp or On-Call employee is no longer performing work for the university, they will lose access to Google Apps.

Before individuals leave the university, they should migrate any needed data to other sources.  Data not migrated will be deleted 60 days following separation from the university.

On-call staff with the following job titles will receive access to Google Apps: Clerical Aide, Professional Aide, Technical Aide, Consultant, and Extension Program Worker.

Service Offering – Adjunct (No Pay Academics) 

Google Apps are automatically provided to Adjunct (No Pay Academics) employees while their status is current. Once an adjunct is no longer current, they will lose access to Google Apps.

Before individuals leave the university, they should migrate needed data to other sources. Data not migrated will be deleted 60 days following separation from the university.

Service Offering – Affiliates 

If a current Affiliate is performing work for MSU, the department can submit a request to the ID office for the Affiliate to obtain access to Google Apps for an MSU business reason. Once a person is no longer an Affiliate, they will lose access to Google Apps.
