Wolfram Mathmatica

Wolfram Mathematica provides Michigan State University students, faculty, and staff with access to advanced computational tools for mathematics, statistics, data science, engineering, scientific research, and programming. Mathematica supports both instructional and research activities through an integrated notebook environment for computation, visualization, and documentation.

Access and Install Wolfram Mathematica Using the MSU Site License

Michigan State University provides access to Wolfram Mathematica through its Wolfram site license for current students, faculty, and staff.

Step 1: Verify Eligibility

  1. Visit the Wolfram Organization Access page: Wolfram Organization Access
  2. Enter your @msu.edu email address.
  3. Accept Wolfram’s Privacy Policy and select Continue.

Step 2: Select Your Affiliation

  1. Confirm that Michigan State University has been identified as your organization.
  2. Select the appropriate affiliation:
    • Student
    • Faculty/Staff
  3. Select Continue.

Step 3: Request Mathematica Access

  1. From the list of available products, locate Wolfram Mathematica.
  2. Select Get Mathematica Desktop.

Step 4: Sign In or Create a Wolfram ID

  1. Sign in with an existing Wolfram ID associated with your @msu.edu email address.
  2. If you do not have a Wolfram ID, select Create one and complete the registration process using your @msu.edu email address.
  3. After signing in, access to the MSU site license is automatically granted for eligible users.

Step 5: Download and Install Mathematica

  1. Download the latest version of Mathematica from your Wolfram account.
  2. Run the installer and complete the installation process.

Step 6: Activate Mathematica

  1. Launch Mathematica after installation.
  2. Sign in with your Wolfram ID when prompted, or follow the activation instructions provided by Wolfram.
  3. Complete the activation process.

Important Information

  • Michigan State University does not use Single Sign On (SSO) for Wolfram licensing.
  • You must use a Wolfram ID associated with your @msu.edu email address.
  • Access approval is fully automated for eligible users with an @msu.edu email address.
  • Mathematica licenses are configured for automatic renewal and automatic upgrades, allowing eligible users to receive new releases as they become available.
  • Access is limited to current MSU students, faculty, and staff for teaching, learning, and academic research purposes.
