MSU StoreMedia services to be retired May 14

MSU StoreMedia will be retired on May 14. This means media delivery and playback will be unavailable beginning on that date, and any links to published or shared media will no longer work.

On June 11, all remaining media on StoreMedia will be deleted.

These changes do NOT include Camtasia and Adobe Presenter packages. There is currently no plan to delete or retire playback for these media types.

Media storage through MediaSpace

StoreMedia has been replaced with Kaltura MediaSpace, a robust media platform for learning media and academic videos first provided to the MSU community in 2012.

Some benefits of MediaSpace include:

  • Mobile device support
  • Integrated captioning services
  • Media analytics

StoreMedia data migration

Before May 14:

  • Use the MediaSpace migration tool in StoreMedia to migrate media you wish to save to MediaSpace.
  • Update links to the media (e.g., hyperlinks, embed codes) after you migrate data to MediaSpace so that the links don’t break.

Before June 11:

  • Download any unmigrated StoreMedia files you want to save prior to deletion.

Camtasia and Adobe Presenter packages don’t need to be migrated and won’t be deleted.

If you have large media collections that need to be downloaded in bulk, please contact the MSU IT Service Desk at ithelp@msu.edu or (517) 432-6200 for help.
