As previously announced, MSU IT is implementing several changes to the MSU login experience, including the legacy two-factor authentication system (2FA). Like 2FA, the new multi-factor solution (MFA) is used when you log in to MSU applications by sending you security codes using one of several methods: mobile application, text, voice call, biometric reader, or security key.
If you currently use the legacy 2FA mobile application (known as Symantec VIP) or another 2FA method, you must download and use Okta Verify (or another new MFA method) soon, to continue receiving security codes during login.
Register for the new MFA here.
Find a Tech Bar
MSU IT is partnering with on-campus units to host several walk-up Tech Bars around campus to answer your questions. Each Tech Bar will be attended by an expert that is ready to assist your transition from the legacy two-factor authentication (2FA/Symantec) system to the new multi-factor authentication (MFA/Okta) system.
Simply bring your mobile device and find us at one of these locations:

More about multi-factor authentication
MFA adds an extra layer of protection to your information and is required to log in to several MSU applications. More secure than a username and password alone, it works by requiring an additional method to authenticate yourself using a temporary passcode sent to you via app, text, or call. MSU is replacing the legacy two-factor authentication (also referred to as 2FA or Symantec VIP), with the new MFA solution. While multiple MSU applications will prompt you for a security code during login, you only need to register for MFA once. Learn more.
