Getting ready for the spring semester

To support your needs heading into the new semester, MSU IT would like to remind you of the following resources available to our MSU community.

Virtual Workshops for Educators

MSU IT Educational Technology workshops are available for educators who need assistance getting ready for the semester, featuring a variety of subjects including D2L, Zoom, and Spartan A11y. Visit our #iteachmsu Commons article for a list of workshops and additional resources. Considering the remote start to spring semester, we added two new offerings this week with “Zoom for Interaction & Engagement” and “D2L Basics for Instructors.”

Free Application Trainings

The MSU IT Training Team offers no-cost virtual instructor-led trainings for all students, faculty, and staff to become more familiar with the technology available at MSU. A mix of beginner and intermediate courses are available about several of our primary collaboration tools: Zoom, Spartan 365, and specific Microsoft applications like Teams, OneNote, and OneDrive. Visit the Spartans Learn website for more information, including in-depth course descriptions, dates, and registration.

Multi-Factor Authentication & Passwords

MSU IT recently updated our multi-factor authentication (MFA) platform. If you have not set-up your new MFA credential, learn more at go.msu.edu/newmfa.

You may have been recently notified to reset your NetID password. Good practice is to reset your password once a year. To reset, visit auth.msu.edu, click your name, “Settings,” and “Edit Profile.”

MSU Tech Store

The MSU Tech Store is processing online orders and managing emails, but the physical location is currently closed to the public. It is tentatively planning to reopen on Wednesday, January 26. For the latest information about store hours, seeking assistance, or needing repairs, visit https://go.msu.edu/QNp5.

MSU ID Office

Beginning Monday, January 10, through Friday, January 28, the MSU ID Office will be open from 8 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays with remote support available by phone Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. The latest information about the ID Office can be found at idoffice.msu.edu.

MSU IT Service Desk

The MSU IT Service Desk is always here to support your tech needs. Please see the footer below for full contact details. The Service Desk typically receives a high volume of requests at the start of each semester and longer than usual hold times should be expected.
