Season’s greetings, Spartans! As the end of the year approaches, the MSU IT Service Desk, Tech Store, and ID Office will be operating under modified hours for the university’s winter break.
IT Service Desk Availability
The operation of the IT Service Desk will be adjusted over the following dates:
- Tuesday, Dec. 19 – Saturday, Dec. 23: Reduced hours with limited staff, open 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.
- Sunday, Dec. 24 – Tuesday, Dec. 26: Closed
- Wednesday, Dec. 27 – Friday, Dec. 29: Reduced hours with limited staff, open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
- Saturday, Dec. 30 – Tuesday, Jan. 2: Closed
During this time, major service outages can still be reported by calling (517) 432-6200. The IT Services Desk’s regular hours of 7 a.m. to midnight, 7 days a week will resume on Jan. 3.

- Reminder, passwords expire once per year. If you think yours might come up over the holidays, consider the following:
- If you haven’t already, you can set a backup email address to reset your own NetID password at any time – no wait required!
- Setting up your backup email only takes a minute and couldn’t be easier.
- Check out our instructions here or head over to https://auth.msu.edu to get started.
- Please note, you’ll only be able to add a backup email address if you’re already able to log in.
- If you’re currently locked out or forgot your password, try the ‘Forgot password?’ or ‘Unlock account?’ options on https://auth.msu.edu before calling the Service Desk.
MSU Tech Store Availability
The MSU Tech Store will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 – Tuesday, Jan. 2.
On Wednesday, Jan. 3, the MSU Tech Store will return to regular store hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
ID Office Availability
The ID Office will be closed Monday, Dec. 25 – Tuesday, Jan. 2.
Starting Wednesday, Jan. 3, the ID Office will resume regular hours, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
