Meet our new CISO!

MSU IT welcomes Andrew (Andy) Weisskopf as chief information security officer on Wednesday, June 12, 2024.

Andy joins us from the University of Delaware where he served as chief information security officer and developed and implemented their information security program to protect the institution’s systems and data.

As CISO, he administered their first-ever, campus-wide information security strategic plan to expand the security program and roll out common tools to the entire university. Andy brings over 30 years of experience in the information security field, including a CISO position at Binghamton University, various information security roles at Iowa State University, and time with IBM and Intel.

Andy served on various cybersecurity committees with EDUCAUSE, the Higher Education Information Security Council (HEISC), NYSERNet, and SUNY. He holds a Master of Business Administration from Temple University and a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University.

“I am thrilled to join Michigan State University as the new CISO,” Andy shared. “I can’t wait to start collaborating with the team to enhance our cybersecurity posture and safeguard the university’s valuable data and resources. I look forward to working together in support of MSU’s 2030 strategic plan.”
