MSU IT celebrated the exceptional contributions of staff during a special presentation of the 2024 Excellence in IT Awards on Thursday, Feb. 6 at WKAR Studios on the Michigan State University Campus. MSU IT presented awards to 11 recipients for this year’s awards — Outstanding Service, Stewardship & Sustainability, Student, Faculty, and Staff Success, and IT Partner —selected from 39 nominations.
All IT staff were invited to nominate peers who exemplify MSU IT’s mission, vision, and values. A diverse, seven-member selection committee scored all nominations and made recommendations for this year’s recipients. Winners were honored guests at a luncheon reception before the awards ceremony.
This year’s award recipients are:

2024 Outstanding Service Award
These awards are granted to MSU IT employees who are committed to providing an outstanding Spartan experience in every interaction and whose consistent approach raises the level of service to their team. Employees nominated for this award provided a significant contribution to IT or a project that resulted in greater efficiency, better service, or successful issue management. Recipients are:

- Jason Munschy, Infrastructure & Technology
- Eddie Underwood, Educational Technology
2024 Stewardship & Sustainability Award
These awards are given to outstanding individuals who have used resources wisely, planned for the long term, and found efficiencies and savings in our systems and operations. The winners in this category solve problems and create the infrastructure critical to our enterprise. Recipients are:

- Tyler Smith, Enterprise Services
- Jonathan Walker, Educational Technology
2024 Student, Faculty, and Staff Success Award
These awards are granted to outstanding individuals who have made exceptional contributions and significant improvements to the student, faculty or staff experience. All while collaborating and playing a role in the success of their team and contributing to their team’s ability to enhance student experiences and success. Recipients are:

2024 IT Partner Award
This award is given to a true believer in partnership and is presented to an individual outside of MSU IT who has been an invaluable and collaborative partner over the past year. IT partners support the mission, vision, and values of MSU IT to enhance and enable education, advance research, expand outreach, and support university operations. This year’s recipient is:
