MSU IT is empowering Spartans to identify cybersecurity threats and protect both personal and institutional data by launching a new multi-phased annual cybersecurity awareness training program.
Phases
- Spring 2025: Full-time Faculty and Staff
- Fall 2025: Students
Participants will receive an email from the Ability Learning Management System (LMS) with a link to the training and instructions during their respective training phases. They will have 30 days to complete the approximately 60-minute training, which will fulfill the cybersecurity training requirement for the calendar year. Google Chrome is the recommended browser to access the course.

Importantly, this program aligns with the directives of National Security Presidential Memorandum 33 (NSPM-33) and its anticipated future requirements. The NSPM-33 is aimed at safeguarding the security and integrity of federally funded research and development.
Cybersecurity threats continue to make local and global headlines due to significant disruptions in service and costly data loss and theft. As cyber threats continue to grow in frequency and sophistication, it is crucial that the MSU community is prepared to defend against them. Protecting personal and institutional data begins with the individual but is a shared responsibility. Every Spartan plays a role.
