Say Hello to a smarter, safer eduroam at MSU

MSU IT has rolled out a major upgrade to the eduroam wireless network, and it’s all about making your connection faster, safer, and easier to use. Whether you’re a student, faculty member, or staff, this change is designed to improve your wireless experience across campus.

What is eduroam?

It is a secure, global wireless network that enables Wi-Fi access across participating academic institutions and organizations. With your MSU credentials, you can connect not only to MSU’s network but also to eduroam at any participating institution.

Why the Upgrade?

The new eduroam setup brings enhanced security and streamlined access:

  • Stronger Security: Devices now connect using 1x device certificates, offering a more secure and reliable connection.
  • No More Logins: Once you’re set up, you won’t need to enter your username and password every time you connect.
  • Faster Reconnects: Say goodbye to delays—your device will reconnect to eduroam more quickly and seamlessly.
  • Simplified Device Registration: No more registering each device with MSU’s DHCP servers. Just onboard once using the JoinNow Connector.

Getting started is easy:
