MSU launches D2L sandbox for instructors to try new version

IT Services launched a “sandbox” of the newest version of Desire2Learn (D2L) at next.d2l.msu.edu for immediate play and experimentation before the full upgrade in December.

This sandbox is only for trying out and previewing, not for live teaching. All content remaining in the sandbox will be lost in the next upgrade.

D2L Version 10.2

D2L version 10.2 adds new features, as well as slightly modifies the look and feel of how content is created. To keep instructors informed, a “Desire2Learn: Version 10.2 Updates and Changes” page is available on the D2L help website.

MSU IT Services will upgrade Desire2Learn from version 10.1 to version 10.2 on December 23 in order to make new features available to instructors prior to Spring Semester 2014. The upgrade requires downtime, so D2L will be unavailable from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on December 23.

Training

On December 17-18, all D2L sessions at the Faculty Seminars in Research and Instructional Technology will use the new 10.2 version of D2L. Faculty Seminars are open to faculty and graduate assistants.

Additional D2L training is also available.
