MSU is expanding the applications and systems that use two-factor authentication to further safeguard personal and institutional data.
Starting on August 14, faculty will need to use two-factor authentication when logging into the MSU D2L course management system. Two-factor authentication will expand to other D2L roles with grading privileges soon.
The authentication process
On August 14, faculty logging into d2l.msu.edu will be prompted to use their two-factor credentials in addition to their NetID and password.
This will work similarly to how faculty log into the MSU EBS system.
Faculty who plan to use D2L during classes should bring a mobile device with them to facilitate the two-factor authentication.
Two-factor credentials
Faculty members who haven’t registered their two-factor credentials yet will need to do so in order to log into MSU D2L.
Most faculty members should already have registered credentials, but newly appointed faculty may still need to do this.
