Introduction To Your Classroom Technology
Jan. 4, 10 – 11 a.m.
Be confident this semester with technology in your classroom. This overview will cover the technology available in a standard classroom. The Educational Technology team will highlight how these technologies can be used in a Hyflex situation, as well as in-person and hybrid.
D2L Gradebook Setup
Jan. 4, 4 – 5 p.m.
Support student success with accurate and up-to-date grades with D2L. This training will lead you through setting up a gradebook that effectively fits your teaching style. Participants will learn how to choose a grading system, create categories and grade items, connect activities to the gradebook and more.
Improve Course Accessibility with Spartan Ally
Jan. 5, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Accessible course content is essential to creating equitable learning experiences for students with disabilities. The Universal Design principles associated with accessibility have the added benefit of improving usability for all students regardless of ability. In this webinar, we will provide an overview of Spartan Ally, a D2L/Brightspace integration that automatically scans course content for common accessibility issues and step-by-step instructions for issue remediation.
Grading in D2L
Jan. 5, 4 – 5 p.m.
Easily enter and manage grades in D2L. MSU IT will demonstrate how to build enter grades and feedback to students in the D2L gradebook. Participants will also learn how to work with extra credit, grade in bulk, adjust grades and export and import grades. It’s recommended that participants should have an existing gradebook or previous knowledge of how to set up a gradebook.
Setting Up iClicker In Your Course and Classroom
Jan. 6, 1 – 2 p.m.
Get immediate feedback from students on how well they understand course concepts by polling with iClicker. This workshop shows instructors the benefits of iClicker and how to set up the software in their classrooms. MSU IT will walk you through setting up and running iClicker in small groups.
Engaging Students in Online Discussions and Peer Feedback Activities
Jan. 6, 2 – 3 p.m.
Are you concerned about keeping your students interested in discussions and feedback in an online environment? This session will introduce three tools available at MSU, including Packback, Piazza, and Eli Review, discuss their affordances and constraints, and show how to integrate the tools into your D2L course.
Before Pushing Record: How Planning your Video Content Can Make it More Engaging and Effective
Jan. 17, 1 – 2 p.m.
Learn how to make engaging high-quality videos that enhance your course content with this informative webinar. This session will provide an overview of the video pre-production process, including how to choose the best style of video for your content, writing a script/outline, identifying lighting and audio to create an Oscar-worthy video! Templates and equipment recommendations will be provided.
Kaltura Mediaspace: Creating & Sharing Instructional Videos
Jan. 26, 1 – 2 p.m.
Learn how to create and share engaging instructional videos and video quizzes for your courses with Kaltura MediaSpace, MSU’s video-hosting platform. Integrating videos and quizzes can help students stay engaged in the course and enhance course content retention.
D2L Quizzes
Jan. 27, 1 – 2 p.m.
Easily design and manage quizzes with D2L. MSU IT will demonstrate how to build an exam in the D2L Quizzes tool including question types, libraries, and pools; sections & pages; shuffling, and bulk question importing.
