Board approves Rich Czarnecki as MSU’s Chief Information Officer

This morning, the Michigan State University Board of Trustees approved the recommendation to name Rich Czarnecki as chief information officer. Interim Executive Vice President for Administration Thomas Glasmacher recommended Czarnecki, a member of MSU IT’s leadership team for over a decade, for the position following a 10-month stint as interim CIO. Important: Tips for Educators Using iClicker on Campus

If you are an educator using iClicker, to ensure connectivity while using iClicker on campus, please consider the following:

  • Make sure your personal device (e.g., phone, tablet, laptop) is registered and connected to the “MSUnet 3.0” Wi-Fi network.
  • iClicker may not work properly when using MSUnet Guest 3.0, MSUnet 5Ghz, or eduroam networksPlease also advise your students with this information when using iClicker in the classroom.

Deadline for AT&T Excellence in Teaching with Technology Award applications extended to Oct. 28  

MSU IT is extending the submission deadline for the AT&T Excellence in Teaching with Technology awards to 5 p.m. (EDT) Monday, Oct. 28 to give educators more time to apply. Cybersecurity Awareness Training for MSU 

On the heels of National Cybersecurity Awareness month in October, MSU is launching a highly requested, university-wide cybersecurity awareness training program. This multi-phased initiative is designed to equip our community with the knowledge and resources to identify cyberthreats and protect both individual and university data. 

  • A first phase was launched in September to MSU IT and the Office of Research and Innovation staff.

Rich Czarnecki recommended as Chief Information Officer

Michigan State University Interim Executive Vice President for Administration Thomas Glasmacher announced that he will recommend Rich Czarnecki to the MSU Board of Trustees for the position of chief information officer, or CIO, at the board’s Oct. 25 meeting.
