D2L has decided to retire its SMS Notification option for all users this month. D2L has decided to move away from SMS notifications as this method is faced with decreased support from providers resulting in inconsistent service. This retirement will take effect for Michigan State University beginning July 24.
No action is required; D2L will delete personal data once it is no longer needed to send notifications. While SMS notifications will be retired, D2L will still allow users to sign up for notifications via email and through the Brightspace Pulse app. Brightspace Pulse provides learners with notifications that offer them tips and keep them informed about course-related news, updates, quizzes, assignments, and grades, and learn how to view and configure push notifications in the app.
