D2L retiring SMS notifications
D2L has decided to retire its SMS Notification option for all users this month. D2L has decided to move away from SMS notifications as this method is faced with decreased support from providers resulting in inconsistent service. This retirement will take effect for Michigan State University beginning July 24.
No action is required; D2L will delete personal data once it is no longer needed to send notifications. Read Full Article →
MSU Network a key component of Farm Lane Bridge construction
The obvious signs of the construction taking place at the bridge in the heart of MSU’s campus are dwindling as Farm Lane was reopened to vehicular traffic early this month. While construction continues into August, vital behind-the-scenes work was completed this past winter to ensure the north and south ends of campus stay connected to the MSU network. This morning, global IT outages related to cybersecurity vendor CrowdStrike resulted in a disruption in many products and services across multiple industries.

While MSU is not directly impacted by the outages, some services may be indirectly impacted by vendors or partners who are.
