MSU NetID site redesigned for increased usability

The MSU NetID website has been redesigned (below) and updated to increase usability for the MSU community.

MSU NetIDs are personal identifiers assigned to all current faculty, staff, students and retirees. NetIDs also determine MSU email addresses.

New features

IT Services launches OAuth 2.0 authentication for campus use

IT Services launched the OAuth 2.0 protocol as another authentication option for MSU developers, units, departments, and colleges.

OAuth provides secure authorization to certain details or attributes of a user without the application needing to receive the user’s password.

Additionally, OAuth doesn’t require client software to be installed for an application to use it and is programming language agnostic. Read Full Article →

MSU community warned to watch for phishing after attempted theft

The Michigan State University Police Department is investigating an attempted theft of employee direct-deposit payroll earnings.

Direct-deposit incident

On Friday, October 18, two employees reported receiving email confirmation of a change in their direct-deposit designation.

Police say that valid credentials (MSU NetID and password) were used by a perpetrator to modify the employees’ banking information on the EBS HR/Payroll (SAP) system. Read Full Article →
