Course Management Systems

D2L (through Brightspace) is MSU’s main supported online learning management system. The integrated Awards tool in D2L enables instructors to issue badges and certificates recognizing student achievements and encouraging engagement. Read more in the D2L Awards Tool Quick Reference Guide.

Additional D2L help documentation is available online and different types of D2L training are also offered.

Submit the D2L third-party integration form if you’d like to request additional integrations.

Please note, two-factor authentication is turned on for all faculty members using D2L.

LON-CAPA is a web-based content management and assessment system. This system is supported by the National Science Foundation and is well suited for science and physics courses.

It was developed in 1992 by MSU faculty in the Cyclotron Lab and is hosted by the MSU Department of Physics and Astronomy.

MSU Google G Suite for Education

MSU Google Apps offers a variety of collaborative tools that may help with course management.

The Google Classroom app enables instructors to create and collect assignments and collaborate on discussion boards. It also provides Google Drive folders for each assignment.

Google has agreed to properly host MSU’s FERPA protected educational records as an institutional agent in Core Apps only. Please avoid any use of Google Apps with confidential data other than educational records.
