Starting on December 19, 2014, courses that are two years old, development courses that have been inactive for two years, and groups that have been inactive for six months in MSU’s ANGEL system will be deleted.
Associated content and records for these courses will also be deleted.
The process
The ANGEL User Support Team is sending specific messages out to affected course and group administrators listing the courses and groups scheduled for deletion. These messages encourage individuals to back up and save any desired content before December 19.
ANGEL will be retired on May 15, 2015, so this may be a good time to download and store any other information you want to preserve.
Directions for how to backup ANGEL content are available online.
The ANGEL User Support Team cleans out data twice a year following the spring and fall semesters in order to maintain operational efficiencies. Additional information on ANGEL policies is available.
Additional information
If you have any questions or are unsure which ANGEL courses or groups may be deleted, please contact the Distance Learning Services (DLS) Help Desk at (517) 355-2345 or (800) 500-1554.
Units often conduct university business using ANGEL Groups (e.g., Search Committees) and in the process may create university business records.
These business records may have specific retention schedules in compliance with laws and regulations or may have historical value to MSU. Contact the University Archives & Historical Collections staff at archives@msu.edu or (517) 355-2330 for questions and assistance.
