Zoom Pro license available to MSU students, faculty, staff on May 13

MSU IT Services will be expanding its Zoom licensing agreement due to the success of the tool that first launched at MSU in January 2014.

Zoom Pro licenses for web conferencing will be available to MSU students, faculty, and staff beginning on May 13. (Previously only Basic licenses were centrally supported.)

MSU Zoom is a cloud-based conferencing and collaboration tool that can be used on a variety of computers and mobile devices. Zoom can also be used via a phone for audio conferencing and can connect to external videoconferencing systems like Polycom.

Zoom is the main centrally supported conferencing tool for MSU community.

Zoom Pro

Current Zoom users will be upgraded to the Pro level on May 13. All new Zoom users will receive Pro accounts automatically by signing in to MSU Zoom. The Zoom Pro account allows you to host meetings for an unlimited duration with up to 25 simultaneous participants.

More advanced Zoom features, such as large meeting rooms and webinars, are available for an extra fee as part of the Zoom Enterprise license that can be purchased through the MSU Computer Store.

Users invited to participate in a meeting do not need a license. Only hosts are required to have an account license.

Questions can be submitted through the Zoom contact form or by calling the Distance Learning Services Help Desk at (517) 355-2345 or (800) 500-1554.
