New tech.msu.edu site launches, adds more tech information

MSU IT Services relaunched the MSU technology website, tech.msu.edu, on September 3 to enhance the user experience, streamline content and navigation, and advance the MSU and information technology brands.

As part of these goals, we aligned with the MSU Web Standards, addressed web accessibility, and incorporated responsive design to aid in mobile viewing.

Project background

Work began over a year ago and included partnering with a local agency on the design and site setup.

We researched peer institutions and public corporations, conducted focus groups and stakeholder interviews, and performed an online card sort.

With our partners and MSU consultative groups, we evaluated and inventoried our existing sites and content, plotted the new site’s information architecture, worked through wireframes, and finalized the design.

Added technology information

Content from the previous IT Services website, Teaching and Learning Technology website, and the Scoring Office website was incorporated into the updated Technology at MSU site to help people find technology resources and information in one place.

Following the relaunch, redirects were set up from the retired sites and keywords were updated to help people find the information they need.

The updated Technology at MSU site also includes additional blog and events information, as well as organizes services and resources in new ways more in line with mobile browsing trends.

If you have any feedback on the updated site, please submit the tech.msu.edu online form.
