Michigan State University Information Technology (MSU IT) welcomed Shyam Gedela as executive director for Enterprise Services, effective Monday, September 28, 2026. In this role, Shyam will lead the teams responsible for enterprise platforms, administrative information systems, and data and reporting services that support the university’s academic, research, and business operations.
Shyam has served as interim director for Enterprise Services since August 2025, providing leadership for the platforms, data and reporting systems, administrative information systems, and vendor-supported technologies that form the foundation of MSU’s enterprise systems environment.
Shyam brings more than two decades of experience in enterprise software development and has spent 19 years at Michigan State University, where he has played a key role in advancing enterprise technology services and strengthening critical university systems. His work has included launching finance, research administration, compliance, and budget systems, as well as helping lead the launch of the Student Information System (SIS), a multi-year modernization effort that transformed the university’s 30-year-old mainframe landscape.
Prior to joining MSU, Shyam served as Associate Director of the Kuali practice at HTC Global Services and held roles as a software architect, product manager, and software programmer. His diverse background has given him a broad understanding of enterprise technology and the ways it can support organizational success.
Shyam holds a Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and conducted graduate research in Civil Engineering at Purdue University. He has also co-authored peer-reviewed research and presented at professional conferences, including the National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA), Higher Education Users Group (HEUG), Kuali Days, and the Research Software Developer Forum.
