MSU Seminars in Research and Instructional Technology to be held May 7-8
IT Services will offer two days of no-cost workshops on research and instructional technology on May 7 and 8, 2013. These seminars are also open to graduate assistants.
The workshops are designed to support faculty, academic staff, and graduate assistants in their teaching and research roles by providing seminars led by experts in online learning, and instruction in the use of a variety of software tools. Read Full Article →
Old ANGEL courses and groups to be removed May 10
Starting on May 10, 2013, courses that are two years old, development courses that have been inactive for two years, and groups that have been inactive for six months in MSU’s ANGEL system will be deleted.
Associated content and records for these courses will also be deleted.

IT Services Technology Training launches new site
IT Services Technology Training launched a new website to showcase its training opportunities to the MSU community. This new site includes broader training information, search functionality, and an updated design.
The new training site is part of the tech.msu.edu site that features technology services and resources.

MSU account expirations to take place in April for past students, faculty, staff
MSU IT Services will go through the process of expiring mail.msu.edu email and AFS storage accounts for past students this spring. This time IT Services will also add past faculty, staff, and affiliates to the expirations.

Desire2Learn Conversion Labs to be held at MSU in February, March, April
D2L Conversion Labs will be held around campus to provide instructors with a hands-on course conversion experience to facilitate smoother transitions to Desire2Learn (D2L).
Conversion labs are held through MSU IT Services and co-sponsored by the Office of Faculty and Organizational Development.

MSU IT Services offers suggestions for handling Java-based vulnerability
Last week a serious Java-based vulnerability was identified by security experts. The vulnerability allows criminals to exploit the opportunity to silently install malware when a hacked site is visited while using the insecure browser plugin.
Users are advised to upgrade to the latest version of Java (currently, it is Version 7 Update 11) immediately, and to only allow Java code to run from known safe sources and that is properly digitally signed. Read Full Article →
