It’s important to safeguard your personal computers, mobile phones, tablets, and other devices.
- Use a passcode to lock your device when not in use.
- Set up automatic updates for operating systems, web browsers, and apps.
- If connecting to an unsecured Wi-Fi connection, be cautious about the sites visited and the information accessed.

Michigan State University needs you to help keep our network and data safe.
Faculty and staff work with institutional data daily and need to take extra precautions, especially when dealing with potential phishing messages.
Know what things to look for in an email that may indicate it’s a phishing attempt.

SecureIT site provides information security guidelines to MSU community
The SecureIT site recently launched to provide the MSU community with one place for guidelines and best practices on information security.
MSU employees first used the site as part of the two-factor authentication rollout in March and April 2015.

MSU to roll out two-factor authentication starting March 16
Over the next six weeks, Michigan State University is adding steps to safeguard personal and institutional data by applying two-factor authentication to human resources, payroll, and finance systems that are part of our Enterprise Business Systems (EBS).

2014 MSU IT Conference to be held on campus June 10
The 2014 MSU IT Conference will be held on June 10 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The conference kicks off at the MSU Union and various breakout sessions will be held throughout the day in nearby buildings on campus.
