Any Windows 2003 systems or services need to be upgraded by July
On July 14, 2015, Microsoft will end support and no longer provide security updates for the Windows 2003 operating system after that time.

IT Services centrally provides CampusAD, Exchange to MSU units
IT Services now centrally provides Microsoft active directory and Exchange services to MSU departments.
Beginning May 2015, existing department customers were no longer billed for these services.
CampusADCampusAD is a Microsoft Windows 2008 Active Directory infrastructure for units on campus. This authentication directory supports enterprise systems (e.g., file and print servers), provides contact information and scheduling integration, and offers mechanisms for centralized desktop management. MSU providing Microsoft software licenses to departments
MSU is providing Microsoft licenses for departmental use under an Enrollment for Education Solution (EES).
A schedule for student use and personal use for faculty and staff of Microsoft Office products will be determined in the future.
Department useAll MSU departments can obtain use licenses on department-owned machines for:
- Office Pro Plus
- Office for Mac
- Windows OS Upgrades
- Windows Server
- Exchange Server
- SharePoint Server
- Lync Server
Licenses are based on the current version of the software, though it’s possible to downgrade to a previous version. Read Full Article →
MSU printing upgraded with new interface, features
The MSU Netprint service was retired today and is replaced with MSU Print at print.msu.edu.
MSU Print offers a simpler and more modern web interface, as well as new print features including laptop printing. (Read the online article for detailed instructions on web and laptop printing using MSU Print.)

IT Services consolidating support phone numbers into one
IT Services is consolidating multiple technology support phone numbers to a single number to create a unified service desk experience for the MSU community.

MSU to start moving students to new email service in June
Michigan State University is transitioning student email to Microsoft Office 365 beginning with new undergraduate students that start MSU in June 2015.
Returning undergraduate students (those that began with MSU prior to June 8) will transition to Office 365 in the fall 2015.

MSU ANGEL retired on May 15; D2L support available
MSU ANGEL was retired on May 15. MSU is moving to Desire2Learn as its main centrally supported learning management system.
Course graded activities and grading data will be accessible on ANGEL in a read-only format for two years after the retirement to provide information in case course grades are contested.
