MSU FileDepot and FileDepot Internal are services for temporarily transferring digital files (up to 2GB) that are too large to be attached in email messages. These files are available to recipients within or outside of the university for up to 14 days.

MSU IT is upgrading the D2L Learning Management System to version 10.5.2 before the spring 2016 semester.

Instructors who want to preview the new version before planning spring semester classes can visit the D2L Sandbox site.

New features

This upgrade will offer new features, some of which include:

  • Improved quiz statistics
  • A HTML 5 media player that makes it easier to insert and play back audio and video
  • More course group self enrollment options

MSU Information Technology started migrating new MSU undergraduate students in June to Office 365 email from MSU Legacy Email. Currently, more than 35,000 accounts have been migrated to Office 365.

Sophomores were migrated to Office 365 email in September, juniors were migrated in October, and seniors will be migrated by the end of November. Read Full Article →

On Thursday, October 29, 2015, at 7:20 a.m. an incident was detected that impacted access to the MSU home page and select other university websites.

D2L was restored at 8:15 a.m. The other affected sites were restored at 9:17 a.m.

MSU Information Technology added captioning, lecture, capture, and other new features to Kaltura MediaSpace video storage on October 19 for MSU students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, MSU expanded MediaSpace bandwidth and storage to support continued growth.

Captioning

MediaSpace users can now order video captioning at no charge. This machine captioning service is 70-80% accurate, and there’s an editing tool for correcting any captions. Read Full Article →
