Greetings fellow Spartans! As the end of the year approaches, the MSU IT Service Desk, ID Office, and Tech Store will not be operating for specific portions of MSU’s winter break. 

IT Service Desk Availability 

Beginning on Friday, December 24, the IT Service Desk is closed on: 

  • Friday, December 24 – Monday, December 27 
  • Friday, December 31 – January 3 

 The MSU IT Service Desk will also have reduced hours on these dates: 

  • Sunday, December 19 – Thursday, December 23 8 a.m.

In order to keep data consistent and centrally managed across the university, location selection functionality in CA and the Service Portal will align with what IPF is using in their integrated work management system (currently FAMIS, eventually transitioning to Planon).

MSU’s new endpoint antivirus, ESET Cloud Protect, is now available. ESET replaces Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) to better protect the MSU community. ESET protects your personal and MSU-owned devices from cyber threats, such as viruses and malware. All current Symantec Endpoint Protection licenses will expire on March 30, 2023. 

  • ESET for personal devices: 
    • Faculty, staff, and researchers have access to free personal licenses: Download here
    • Students have access to discounted personal licenses: Download here
    • Symantec Endpoint Protection must be uninstalled from personal devices by March 30, 2023, to maintain compliance
  • ESET for MSU-owned devices: 
    • Local or unit IT staff will select a time and deployment method that minimizes disruption
    • Please direct any questions to your local or unit IT or SEP administrator
    • If you don’t know your local or unit IT, please contact the MSU Service Desk at 517-432-6200

FileDepot is a secure file transfer service that allows users to send and receive files as large as 2 GB within and outside of the university. A feature of this security is that files are not stored on the system beyond 14 days, and therefore cannot be recovered. Read Full Article →
