Brown Bag: Groups in D2L: Creating ad-hoc D2L Groups During Class, Submitting Photos of Group Work, and Grading Groups using Rubrics

We leverage D2L features to facilitate group work in large-enrollment lecture courses. D2L’s grouping, dropbox, and rubric features simplify the logistical challenges inherent with collecting and evaluating work from hundreds of students. These features allow informal groups that are formed at the start of a class meeting to work cooperatively during class and upload their final product, whether it by text and/or drawings, to D2L at the end of class. New features in MSU D2L version 10.5 allow for easy cleanup of courses that are carrying extra baggage from previous course conversions or years of accumulating unused files.

D2L self-directed training updated for instructors and students

Learn ways faculty, students can use the D2L mobile app in courses
In December, MSU upgraded to D2L 10.5, which offers expanded functionality and user experience upgrades.
One of the new features available is Brightspace Pulse, a mobile app that can help students see what is coming up in their courses and manage their time and efforts accordingly. The Pulse app is supported on Android and iOS. Read Full Article →
New MSU D2L features planned before spring 2016 semester
MSU IT is upgrading the D2L Learning Management System to version 10.5.2 before the spring 2016 semester.
Instructors who want to preview the new version before planning spring semester classes can visit the D2L Sandbox site.
New featuresThis upgrade will offer new features, some of which include:
- Improved quiz statistics
- A HTML 5 media player that makes it easier to insert and play back audio and video
- More course group self enrollment options
